Welcome To Our Family
Aloha means hello, goodbye, or love. It also carries a deeper meaning. Aloha is the essence of being: love, peace, and compassion, and a mutual understanding of respect. Aloha means living in harmony with the people and the land around you with mercy, sympathy, grace, and kindness. The direct translation from Hawaiian to English is the presence of divine breath. The Hawaiian word "alo" is presence, front and face, and "ha" is breath.
Ohana means family, but in a much wider sense, to include one's relatives, but to also include close friends. The idea is also that family and friends are bound together and everyone must work together and support each other.
When we say Aloha Ohana, we pay homage to the Hawaiian roots of our International Kenpo Karate Jui Jitsu system, but also make a statement about who we are.
Ohana Martial Arts Academy is a little different from your average martial arts school. We center our learning environment on the importance of family and developing life skills. To us, martial arts are a great way to learn self-defense and grow in confidence. Not only are you (or your children) learning greater control over your body, but you’re also developing principles like integrity, discipline, patience, kindness, honesty, and humility that will help guide the rest of your life.
The Core Values of Ohana Martial Arts Academy
These are our guiding principles for everyone and everything we teach.
Be honest and trustworthy.
Do the things you are expected to do.
Waiting calmly and not interrupting others.
Never give up.
Speak the truth.
Fun And Engaging Classes
Our Martial Arts school focuses on Karate, Kenpo, and Aiki Jujitsu. We’ve worked hard to create classes for all athletic abilities and interest levels - from the four-year-old who’s just starting out to experienced athletes that may even have a solid background in Martial Arts already. Our classes are tailored to each individual person, no matter where they’re at in life or their athletic abilities. Our certified instructors are caring and focused professionals who want to assist you and your family in learning the discipline of Martial Arts in a fun and exciting way. Our group classes are separated by age so that kids can feel comfortable and learn with their peers.
A Safe And Professional Space
We are a member of the United Martial Arts Alliance International and an International Black Belt Academy school. We also make sure that all of our teachers are qualified and passionate about their art. Additionally, we conduct full background checks on every person we hire (including a Google search) and always have more than one employee in the building during our business hours. And finally, for the safety of both our staff and students, we’ve structured our classes so instructors doing one-on-one lessons are never alone with a child. We want to make sure students of all ages feel comfortable, safe, and confident at our school.
Everyone Is Welcome Here
Creating a welcoming, friendly, safe space for people of all kinds in Firestone, Colorado is one of our top priorities, and we invite everyone to come join us! We’re careful to keep our Martial Arts school clean and beautiful (because let’s face it, it’s hard to learn effectively in an environment with a lot of distractions.) Since we’re very family-oriented, we’ve also made sure to keep a comfortable space available for the parents who want to watch their kids learn. To us, it doesn’t matter if you don’t fit in, have a learning disability, or just don’t feel confident. This is a no-cut sport, and you’re welcome to learn and grow with us.
